Course Overview

iON United, along with F5 Networks is pleased to offer this hands on F5 training class in Calgary. This instructor lead course will take you through the Fundamentals of F5 LTM, APM, DNS, and ASM. This is a hands-on course consisting of lecture, labs, and discussions.

Course outline

  • Day 1 – LTM Fundamentals
    A walk through the basics of LTM capabilities, availability, acceleration, security and customizations, showing how to make your application faster, smarter and safer.  In this class, students will begin to learn how to install, modify and administrator BIG-IP LTM.
  • Day 2 – APM – Remote Access and Web Authentication
    Designed to help the student become familiar with F5 Network’s BIG-IP® v12 Access Policy Manager (APM) features and functionality. This course will focus on the remote access and web authentication features of the Access Policy Manager. The student will configure these features on the Access Policy Manager.
  • Day 3
    • APM – Federation
      We will cover SAML basics, such as, IdP (Identity Provider) and Service Provider (SP), both of which are supported on the BIG-IP APM and SAML assertions. The attendees will then perform labs configuring BIG-IP APM to provide IdP and SP services.
    • BIG-IP DNS
      This class runs the student through the main features of BIG-IP DNS, with the focus being on global server load-
      balancing, but also covering DNS Express, caching, etc.
  • Day 4 (1/2 day) – Application Security Manager ASM v12.1
    This course is an introduction to F5’s web application firewall (WAF) product Application Security Manager (ASM).
    This course covers new features in v.12.x, the new automated Policy Builder and ASM’s L7 DDoS and BoT
    protection capabilities.
